In-person on-demand session
The big shift in the mindset and ways of working of enterprise and solution architects in Agile product development
ABOUT THE SESSION
Bruno Rothgiesser is a seasoned technology leader with deep expertise in enterprise architecture and software engineering, focused on delivering large-scale digital solutions for the commodity trading and retail sectors. At bp, he currently leads a global software engineering team of over 350 professionals, responsible for developing and operating customer-facing applications, digital payments, and retail technologies across thousands of stores worldwide. His prior role as Chief Architect for bp’s Retail business saw him shaping the digital backbone of fuel forecourts, convenience stores, and the BPme mobile app. With a strong foundation in payments, loyalty, and mobile platforms, his solutions have served millions globally. Before his retail focus, he spent 15 years advancing technology for commodity trading at top energy firms, including roles at Sakonnet, EON, and CNOOC. He is now set to share his insights on the critical shift in mindset and approach required of enterprise and solution architects in Agile product development environments.
He is all set to share his views on how the traditional way of thinking about and practicing architecture must fundamentally shift in an Agile product development environment. In today’s fast-paced digital landscape, long-term, fixed architectural plans are no longer viable. Instead, architects must embrace an iterative approach that allows for continuous evolution of digital products, driven by customer feedback and real-world usage data. He will explore how architecture teams can define a digital technology state that is dynamic and adaptable—capable of changing every few weeks without compromising stability or performance. A key focus of his session will be on empowering teams to make architecture decisions quickly, even in the absence of perfect information, by building systems that tolerate and recover from mistakes. He will highlight the importance of enabling experimentation and learning over perfection, while maintaining strategic alignment and technical coherence. His insights will provide a roadmap for architects aiming to stay relevant and effective in modern product-centric organizations.
Key Topics-
1. How does the traditional way of thinking about and doing architecture change in an Agile product development environment.
2. How do architects and their teams define a digital technology state that can evolve every few weeks based on customers feedback on their digital products
3. How to allow for architecture decision making where analysis paralysis is not acceptable but mistakes are, if you can recover from them.
